Accepted in the Beloved
Share
Scripture: Ephesians 1:6 (NKJV)
“To the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.”
Focus: You don’t have to earn God’s acceptance.
Devotional:
Many people spend their entire lives chasing acceptance.
They try to earn it from their parents, friends, spouse, coworkers, or society. They feel like they constantly have to prove their worth.
But the Gospel turns that mindset upside down.
Because of Jesus, you are not working for acceptance—you are working from acceptance.
Notice that Paul doesn’t say we might be accepted if we perform well enough. He says God has already made us accepted in Christ.
This doesn’t mean we are perfect. It means that when God looks at us through the finished work of Jesus, He sees sons and daughters whom He loves.
The pressure to prove yourself disappears when you realize that your identity is not based on your performance but on Christ’s performance.
The cross settled the question of your worth.
Jesus thought you were worth dying for.
When you understand that truth, you stop living for the applause of people and start living for the pleasure of God.
Reflection Question:
Whose approval am I seeking more than God’s?
Prayer:
Father, thank You that I am accepted because of Jesus. Free me from the need to constantly prove myself and help me rest in Your grace.
