Be Strong in the Lord

Scripture — Ephesians 6:10–13 (KJV)

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

Focus

God does not call you to fight spiritual battles in your own strength.

Devotional

Some battles are obvious.

Others are happening inside your thoughts, temptations, attitudes, and decisions.

Paul reminds us that the Christian life includes spiritual opposition.

That means not every battle should be approached with more effort, more planning, or more determination.

Sometimes the first thing you need is to remember where your strength comes from.

Paul says:

“Be strong in the Lord.”

Not strong in yourself.

Not strong because you have everything figured out.

Not strong because you never struggle.

Your strength comes from God.

That changes the way you fight.

When temptation comes, you do not have to surrender.

When discouragement comes, you do not have to believe every thought.

When fear comes, you do not have to let it control your decisions.

When pressure comes, you can stand.

But Paul also says to put on the whole armor of God.

That means you cannot live carelessly and expect to remain spiritually strong.

You need truth.

You need righteousness.

You need faith.

You need salvation.

You need the Word of God.

You need prayer.

Spiritual strength is built through staying close to God and using what He has already given you.

And notice Paul repeatedly uses the word stand.

Sometimes victory does not look dramatic.

Sometimes victory simply means you did not quit.

You did not compromise.

You did not go back.

You did not allow the pressure to move you away from Jesus.

You stood.

There may be areas where you feel weak today.

That does not disqualify you.

Your weakness can remind you to depend more deeply on God’s strength.

You do not need to pretend you are powerful.

You need to know the One who is.

Reflection Questions

Where am I trying to fight in my own strength right now?

What truth from God’s Word do I need to stand on today?

Prayer

Father, strengthen me in You today. Help me recognize spiritual battles and not fight them through my own strength. Protect my mind, guard my heart, strengthen my faith, and help me stand firmly on Your Word. When I feel weak, remind me that Your power is greater than anything I face.
