Communion With God

“Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray. Later Simon and the others went out to find him. When they found him, they said, ‘Everyone is looking for you.’ But Jesus replied, ‘We must go on to other towns as well, and I will preach to them, too. That is why I came.’ So he traveled throughout the region of Galilee, preaching in the synagogues and casting out demons.”

Mark 1:35–39 NLT

When we read this passage, it’s easy to focus on Jesus continuing His ministry—preaching, traveling, and performing miracles. But I want you to pause and notice how He went about it.

Before ministering to people, Jesus withdrew to an isolated place to pray. He stepped away from noise, people, and distractions so He could meet with His Father. His ministry flowed from communion. His direction came from prayer. And His strength came from intimacy with God.

So let me ask you a question:

What does your isolated prayer time look like?

For me, I had to change my schedule to make room for it. I had to lay down things I enjoy because I realized that if I truly want to walk in what God has called me to do, I need to be in communion with Him first. Ministry to others has to begin with Him ministering to me.

My prayer is that you’ll do the same—create space, step away, and let God fill you, guide you, and strengthen you so you can fulfill what He’s called you to do.
