Don’t Let Yesterday Control Today

Scripture: Lamentations 3:22–23 (NLT)

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

Focus

Every morning is another opportunity to walk in God’s mercy.

Devotional

Yesterday may not have gone the way you wanted.

Maybe you failed.

Maybe you said something you regret.

Maybe you wasted time, gave in to temptation, or simply felt distant from God.

But today is a new day.

God’s mercy is not running out.

His faithfulness has not changed.

His love has not disappeared.

Scripture says His mercies are new every morning.

That means you do not have to drag yesterday’s condemnation into today.

If you need to repent, repent.

If you need to make something right, make it right.

But then receive God’s mercy and move forward.

The enemy wants you stuck looking backward.

God calls you to keep walking with Him.

Your past can teach you, but it does not have to control you.

Today you can pray again.

You can obey again.

You can choose differently.

You can draw near to God again.

His mercy has already met you this morning.

Reflection Question

What from yesterday do I need to surrender so I can faithfully walk with God today?

Prayer

Father, thank You that Your mercy is new every morning. Forgive me where I have fallen short and help me not live under condemnation. Give me grace to walk faithfully with You today.
