Evidence Of Faith

Verse:

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

— Hebrews 11:1 NKJV

Questions:

  • What is faith?

Faith is the confident expectation that God will move according to what He has promised in His Word (Romans 4:20–21; 2 Corinthians 1:20).

  • How can I have faith?

By believing in who God is (His character) and in what He has promised in His Word (Numbers 23:19; Isaiah 55:11). Faith also grows as we are sensitive to and led by the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:14; Galatians 5:25).

Truth:

Whatever God has promised in the Bible is true for me and for you (Joshua 21:45; 2 Peter 1:4). God works through faith—faith is expectation, the very substance of hope (Mark 11:22–24). He does not work through double-mindedness (James 1:6–8).

Application:

Read the Bible to learn what God says about the situations in your life (Romans 10:17). Believe His Word and expect Him to work in those situations (Philippians 4:6–7; Matthew 21:22).

Prayer:

God, I thank You for today! I boldly come before Your throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16) and ask You to give me faith to move mountains (Matthew 17:20), to believe for the impossible (Luke 1:37). I love You and I praise You, God. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
