Faith Over Feelings
Share
Scripture: Proverbs 3:5 (NLT)
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding.”
Focus
Your feelings are real, but they were never meant to lead your life.
Devotional
Feelings can change quickly.
One day you feel close to God.
The next day you feel distant.
One moment you feel confident.
The next moment fear begins to take over.
There is nothing wrong with having emotions. God created us with them. But problems begin when our feelings become the authority for what we believe.
Your feelings may tell you God is far away.
His Word says He is near.
Your feelings may tell you there is no hope.
His Word says He is faithful.
Your feelings may tell you that you cannot keep going.
His Word says His strength is made perfect in weakness.
Faith does not mean ignoring your emotions. It means bringing them under the truth of God’s Word.
Sometimes following Jesus means saying:
“This is how I feel, but this is what God says—and I choose to trust Him.”
Your emotions can inform you, but Scripture should lead you.
When your feelings and God’s truth seem to disagree, build your life on what does not change.
God’s Word remains true whether you feel it today or not.
Reflection Question
Is there an emotion I have been allowing to speak louder than God’s truth?
Prayer
Father, thank You for caring about everything I feel. Help me bring my emotions honestly before You without allowing them to control me. Teach me to trust Your Word above my understanding and build my life on Your unchanging truth.
