God Gives Peace

Scripture: Philippians 4:6–7 (NLT)

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.”

Focus

Prayer moves our hearts from anxiety toward trust.

Devotional

Worry often begins when we try to carry tomorrow with today’s strength.

We think through every possible outcome.

We imagine what could go wrong.

We try to control things that are outside of our control.

Paul gives us a different response:

Pray about everything.

Not just the major problems.

Everything.

Prayer does not mean ignoring reality. It means bringing reality into the presence of God.

Tell Him what you need.

Tell Him what you are afraid of.

Tell Him what you do not understand.

Then remember what He has already done.

Thanksgiving reminds us that the God we are trusting today is the same God who has been faithful before.

And Paul says something powerful happens: the peace of God begins to guard our hearts and minds.

The situation may not immediately change.

But your heart can.

Peace is not found in having complete control.

It is found in knowing that God does.

Reflection Question

What am I worrying about that I need to turn into prayer today?

Prayer

Father, I give You the worries I have been carrying. Help me bring everything to You in prayer and remember Your faithfulness. Guard my heart and mind with Your peace, and teach me to trust You with what I cannot control.
