God Is Your Refuge

Scripture: Psalm 46:1 (NLT)

“God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.”

Focus

God is not only powerful enough to help you—He is near and ready when trouble comes.

Devotional

Trouble has a way of making us feel exposed.

When life becomes uncertain, we often look for something that will make us feel safe. We may turn to money, people, plans, or our own ability to stay in control.

But none of those things can give us lasting security.

The psalmist says, “God is our refuge and strength.”

A refuge is a safe place during danger. It does not mean the storm is imaginary. It means there is somewhere secure to run in the middle of it.

God does not always remove difficulty immediately, but He promises to be present within it.

He is your strength when you feel weak.

He is your peace when your thoughts are racing.

He is your protection when life feels unstable.

He is your help when you do not know what to do next.

The verse also says He is “always ready to help.” You do not have to convince God to care. You do not have to wait until you have the perfect words.

You can come to Him honestly and immediately.

When fear rises, run to God before you run to worry.

When pressure builds, seek His presence before trying to control everything.

He is not a distant shelter. He is a present refuge.

Reflection Question

Where do I usually run first when I feel afraid, overwhelmed, or uncertain?

Prayer

Father, thank You for being my refuge and strength. Teach me to run to You first when trouble comes. Help me trust Your presence, receive Your peace, and depend on Your strength today.
