God’s Word Is a Lamp

Scripture: Psalm 119:105 (NLT)

“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.”

Focus

God often gives enough light for the next step, not the entire journey.

Devotional

We usually want God to show us the whole plan.

Where are we going?

How will this work out?

What happens next?

But Scripture describes God’s Word as a lamp, not a floodlight.

A lamp gives enough light to see the next few steps.

That means following God often requires trust.

He may not show you everything at once, but He will give you what you need to keep moving faithfully.

His Word gives direction when emotions are confusing.

His Word gives truth when culture is loud.

His Word gives wisdom when decisions feel uncertain.

The more familiar you become with Scripture, the easier it becomes to recognize what aligns with God’s heart.

You may not know exactly where the road leads, but you do not have to walk in darkness.

Open His Word.

Take the next step.

Trust Him with what you cannot yet see.

Reflection Question

Am I waiting for God to show me the whole plan instead of obeying the next step He has already made clear?

Prayer

Father, thank You for giving me Your Word. Guide my decisions, correct my thinking, and help me walk faithfully one step at a time. Give me confidence to follow You even when I cannot see the whole road ahead.
