God Will Finish What He Started

Scripture: Philippians 1:6 (NLT)

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”

Focus

God is not finished with you.

Devotional

Sometimes spiritual growth feels slower than we expected.

We notice the same weaknesses.
We repeat the same struggles.
We wonder why we are not farther along.

In those moments, it is easy to become discouraged with ourselves.

But Paul gives us a powerful reminder: the work God began in you is still continuing.

Your growth does not depend only on your strength. God Himself is shaping you, correcting you, teaching you, and making you more like Christ.

That does not mean we become passive. We still pray, obey, repent, and pursue God. But we do those things with confidence, knowing that He is actively working within us.

A construction project can look unfinished for a long time. There may be dust, exposed walls, and pieces that do not yet seem to fit. But the unfinished appearance does not mean the builder has abandoned the work.

The same is true in your life.

You may still be under construction, but you are not forgotten.

Your failures do not surprise God.
Your weaknesses do not cancel His purpose.
Your slow progress does not mean He has stopped working.

Keep surrendering.
Keep obeying.
Keep trusting.

The God who started the work is faithful to complete it.

Reflection Question

Have I been judging myself by my unfinished condition instead of trusting God’s continuing work?

Prayer

Father, thank You for not giving up on me. Help me cooperate with the work You are doing in my heart. When I feel discouraged by my weaknesses, remind me that You are still shaping me and will faithfully finish what You started.
