Guarding Your Heart
Share
Scripture: Proverbs 4:23
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
Focus:
The condition of your heart determines the direction of your life.
Devotional
When most people think about spiritual growth, they focus on actions. God often focuses on something deeper—the heart.
Why?
Because everything flows from it.
Your words flow from your heart.
Your decisions flow from your heart.
Your attitudes flow from your heart.
Your relationship with God flows from your heart.
This is why Scripture tells us to guard it above all else.
We guard our homes with locks.
We guard our finances with passwords.
We guard valuable possessions with security.
Yet many believers leave their hearts unguarded.
We allow bitterness to settle in.
We entertain sinful thoughts.
We fill our minds with things that pull us away from God.
We neglect time in His Word and wonder why our passion grows cold.
A guarded heart is not a closed heart. It is a heart that carefully protects what influences it.
The more you fill your heart with God’s truth, the more your life will reflect His character.
What you continually allow into your heart today will shape who you become tomorrow.
Reflection Question
What influence in my life is strengthening my walk with God, and what influence is weakening it?
Prayer
Lord, search my heart and reveal anything that does not honor You. Help me guard my heart carefully and fill it with Your truth, Your presence, and Your Word.
