Hunger for God

Scripture: Matthew 5:6 (NKJV)

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.”

Focus:

God fills those who genuinely seek Him.

Devotional

Physical hunger is a sign that your body needs food.

Spiritual hunger is a sign that your soul was created for God.

Jesus didn’t say, “Blessed are those who know about righteousness.” He said, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness.”

Hunger is more than interest.

A hungry person doesn’t casually think about food—they pursue it.

In the same way, God desires a heart that longs for Him above everything else.

Throughout Scripture, God responds to those who seek Him wholeheartedly.

David cried, “My soul thirsts for You.”

Moses prayed, “Show me Your glory.”

Paul the Apostle said, “That I may know Him.”

None of these men were satisfied with yesterday’s encounter. They wanted more of God.

The danger in the Christian life isn’t always rebellion—it can be becoming spiritually satisfied with where we are.

God is looking for people who still hunger.

People who still seek Him.

People who still desire to know Him more deeply.

The wonderful promise of Jesus is this: those who hunger for Him will be filled.

Reflection Question

What am I truly hungry for? Does my pursuit of God reflect the hunger of my heart?

Prayer

Father, create in me a deeper hunger for Your presence. Don’t let me become comfortable or spiritually complacent. Give me a heart that longs to know You more each day and satisfies itself in You alone.
