Renewing Your Mind

Scripture: Romans 12:2 (NLT)

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”

Focus

Lasting change begins when God renews the way we think.

Devotional

The world is constantly trying to shape your mind.

It tells you what success should look like, what you should value, how you should live, and where your worth should come from.

If we are not careful, we can begin thinking like the world while still claiming to follow Jesus.

Paul tells us not to copy the patterns around us. Instead, we are to let God transform us by changing the way we think.

Transformation is more than changing a few outward habits. It begins in the mind.

What you believe affects how you live.

If you believe you are alone, you may live in fear.

If you believe your worth comes from people, you may live for approval.

If you believe God is faithful, you can walk in peace.

If you believe His Word is true, you can obey even when it is difficult.

This is why time in Scripture matters so much. God’s Word exposes lies, replaces them with truth, and teaches us to see life from His perspective.

You do not have to believe every thought that enters your mind.

You can test it against Scripture.

You can reject what is false.

You can choose to agree with what God says.

As your mind is renewed, your choices, desires, and attitudes begin to change too.

Reflection Question

What thought pattern in my life needs to be replaced with God’s truth?

Prayer

“Father, renew my mind through Your Word. Help me recognize the lies I have believed and replace them with truth. Transform the way I think so that my life becomes more pleasing to You.”
