Sin Is No Longer Your Master

“Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace. Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not! Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.”

— Romans 6:14-16 NLT

Questions:

What Is Sin?

Sin is any action or thought that leads you away from God and His plan for your life.

What Is God’s Grace?

God’s grace is His empowering favor—received through faith in Jesus and His Word—that forgives our sin and enables us to turn from it.

Truths:

Through Christ’s death for our sins and His resurrection on the third day, we are made right with God by grace.

As Christians, we are no longer slaves to sin. The Holy Spirit—God’s active agent of grace—dwells within us and helps us resist sin’s power.

Application:

Whom will you obey?

• The Holy Spirit, who forgives and empowers you to live free from sin,

• or the pull of sin, which leads to bondage and death?

The choice is yours: let God be Lord of your life, or remain enslaved to the very things you despise.

God is calling you to release the bondage that holds you back from your true potential in Jesus Christ. Let the grace of God motivate and guide you to live like Jesus, shaping your life according to the Word found in the Bible.

Prayer:

God, thank You for today and for all You have done in my life. I ask You to work in me in such a monumental way that I will never be the same. Lead me and direct me in Your ways through Your grace. I love You and praise You. In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.
