The impossible!

“For with God nothing will be impossible.” Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to Your word.” And the angel departed from her.”

Luke 1:37–38 (NKJV)

In this season, you may feel surrounded by things that seem impossible. You might be asking questions like: What direction is God leading me in? or What is God asking me to sacrifice? But the greater question is this: How does God want to do the impossible through you?

Are you a willing vessel that God can use?

There are conditions when it comes to God doing the impossible through our lives—and it all comes down to one thing: your yes. Are you willing to say yes to God, even if it costs you everything?

Let’s take a closer look at these verses. The Bible says, “For with God nothing will be impossible.” To fully understand the weight of this statement, we need some background.

God was speaking to Mary, a teenage girl who was preparing to be married. She was visited by an angel and given news that would completely change her life. In verse 35, the angel says:

The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35)

Mary was young, unmarried, and fully aware of the consequences that could follow. Saying yes meant facing misunderstanding, criticism, shame, and even the possibility of death. Yet despite the fear, the uncertainty, and the cost, Mary responded with surrender.

Her words were simple, but powerful:

“Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to Your word.”

That was her yes.

Mary did not ask for a detailed plan. She did not ask how everything would work out. She simply trusted the God who spoke to her. And because of her obedience, God did the impossible through her.

So the question for us is this: How would we respond if God asked something life-changing of us? Would we hesitate? Would we try to negotiate? Or would we surrender and say yes?

I know for me, I have to pause and reflect. Am I willing to give up everything to be used by God? Would I respond the way Mary did? My prayer is that God would help me to say yes—and that He would help you do the same.

Prayer:

Thank You, Jesus, for saving my life. Use me to do the impossible. I want to be a vessel for Your kingdom. Direct me and lead me in Your ways, Lord. I love You.

In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
