The Ministry of Ordinary Faithfulness
Share
Scripture: Zechariah 4:10
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.”
Focus:
God works through small acts of obedience.
Devotional
We often admire the big moments in Scripture—the giants defeated, the seas parted, the miracles performed. But many of those moments were preceded by years of quiet faithfulness.
Before he faced Goliath, David faithfully tended sheep.
Before leading Israel, Moses spent years in the wilderness.
Before preaching to thousands, the disciples spent countless ordinary days simply walking with Jesus.
God is not only present in the extraordinary moments. He is present in the ordinary ones.
A faithful prayer.
A kind word.
A quiet act of service.
Time spent in God’s Word.
Choosing integrity when no one is watching.
These things may seem small, but in God’s kingdom, small acts of obedience often produce great fruit over time.
Don’t underestimate what God can do through consistent faithfulness. The seeds you plant today may become the harvest you see years from now.
Reflection Question
What small act of obedience is God asking me to be faithful in today?
Prayer
Father, help me not to overlook the small things. Teach me to be faithful in the ordinary moments and to trust that You are working even when I cannot see immediate results.
