The Secret Place
Share
Scripture: Matthew 6:6
“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
Focus:
God does some of His deepest work in the hidden places.
Devotional
We live in a world that celebrates what is seen.
Public accomplishments.
Public recognition.
Public influence.
But God’s kingdom often grows in secret before it is revealed in public.
Jesus taught His disciples to pray in the secret place—not because God is impressed by isolation, but because intimacy is cultivated there.
The secret place is where distractions are removed.
It’s where prayer becomes personal.
It’s where we stop performing for others and begin communing with God.
Many believers want the power that comes from God without the relationship that comes with seeking Him.
But throughout Scripture, the men and women God used most were often those who spent time alone with Him.
Before Jesus ministered to crowds, He withdrew to pray.
Before major decisions, He sought the Father.
Before the cross, He wrestled in prayer.
The strength seen in public was born from fellowship in private.
If you neglect the secret place, your spiritual life will eventually become shallow. But if you cultivate it, you’ll discover that God’s presence becomes your greatest treasure.
Reflection Question
How consistent am I in spending time alone with God when no one else is watching?
Prayer
“Father, draw me into deeper fellowship with You. Teach me to value Your presence more than recognition, and help me make time to meet with You in the secret place.”
