Trust God With Tomorrow

Scripture — Matthew 6:31–34 (KJV)

“Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.”

Focus

God wants you to be faithful with today instead of being consumed by tomorrow.

Devotional

Jesus knew how easily our minds can travel into the future.

What if this happens?

What if I do not have enough?

What if my plans fail?

What if something goes wrong?

Before long, we can spend today carrying problems that have not even happened yet.

But Jesus reminds us of something incredibly important:

Your Father already knows what you need.

God is not discovering your needs as they happen.

He already sees tomorrow.

He already knows the decisions you will face.

He already knows the provision you will need.

He already knows which doors should open and which ones should stay closed.

That does not mean you should never plan.

Planning can be wise.

But there is a difference between planning for the future and worrying about the future.

Planning says:

“God, give me wisdom to prepare.”

Worry says:

“Everything depends on me figuring this out.”

Jesus gives us a better priority:

Seek God first.

Before chasing success, seek Him.

Before obsessing over the outcome, seek Him.

Before trying to control every detail, seek Him.

When God’s kingdom becomes your first priority, everything else begins finding its proper place.

You may not know everything tomorrow holds.

But you know the One who already holds tomorrow.

So handle what God has put in front of you today.

Pray today.

Obey today.

Work hard today.

Love people today.

Serve Jesus today.

And when tomorrow comes, God will still be there.

Reflection Question

What future situation am I worrying about that I need to place back into God’s hands?

Prayer

Father, You already know everything I need and everything that lies ahead of me. Forgive me for allowing tomorrow’s worries to steal today’s peace. Help me seek Your kingdom first, make wise decisions, and trust You with the things I cannot control. Teach me to be faithful with what You have given me today.
