Unity

“I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.”
— 1 Corinthians 1:10 (NIV)
Reflection
This verse was a doozy for me.
It’s crazy how often I disagree with a fellow Christian, get defensive about what I believe, and disregard what they understand to be true. This is extremely common. I see it all over social media and even in our local churches.
Instead of listening and seeking mutual understanding, we often disagree quickly and dismiss one another just as fast.
What Scripture Teaches Us
This verse gives both you and me clear instruction on how we are to treat and speak to our brothers and sisters in Christ.
We are called to:
• Be united in what we say
• Be united in mind and thought
• Pursue unity over division
We may not always agree, but when disagreement arises, Scripture calls us to seek unity rather than separation.
How Should We Handle Division?
When disagreements happen, we should:
• Go to the Bible and see what God’s Word says
• Pray about the issue and pray for our fellow believer
• Ask God for wisdom and understanding
• Approach the conversation with humility, not arrogance
• Speak with love, patience, and grace
Unity does not mean ignoring truth—it means pursuing truth together in love.
Prayer:
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank You for this beautiful day. I give You everything I have.
Help me to walk in unity with my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
Teach me how to handle division in a way that honors You.
Shape my heart to be humble, loving, and understanding.
