When God Seems Silent
Share
Scripture: Psalms 13:1
“How long, Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?”
Focus:
God’s silence does not mean God’s absence.
Devotional
Every believer will eventually walk through seasons where God seems silent.
Prayers go unanswered.
Direction seems unclear.
Emotions grow weak.
And we begin to wonder, “Lord, where are You?”
Even David asked these questions. He cried out, “How long, Lord?” Yet notice that David didn’t run from God in his confusion—he ran to God.
Faith is not pretending that everything is okay. Faith is bringing your questions, fears, and disappointments honestly before the Lord.
Sometimes God speaks loudly, and sometimes He speaks quietly. But whether He is speaking through a whisper or through His Word, His character never changes.
The same God who was faithful yesterday is faithful today.
And often, what feels like silence is actually an invitation—to trust Him more deeply, seek Him more earnestly, and walk by faith rather than by sight.
You may not always understand what God is doing, but you can always trust who God is.
Reflection Question
How do I typically respond when God seems silent—do I withdraw from Him or draw near to Him?
Prayer
Father, when I cannot hear Your voice, help me to trust Your heart. Teach me to seek You even when I don’t understand, and remind me that Your silence never means that You have abandoned me.
