Worship God Like Nobody Is Watching!

“When David returned home to bless his own family, Michal, the daughter of Saul, came out to meet him. She said in disgust, ‘How distinguished the king of Israel looked today, shamelessly exposing himself to the servant girls like any vulgar person might do!’ David retorted to Michal, ‘I was dancing before the Lord, who chose me above your father and all his family! He appointed me as the leader of Israel, the people of the Lord, so I celebrate before the Lord. Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, even to be humiliated in my own eyes! But those servant girls you mentioned will indeed think I am distinguished!’”

Questions:
Why was David dancing?
He was worshiping God.
What is worship?
It’s what you prioritize, value, and put first in your life.
Truths:
• We all worship something—it’s either God or something else on this earth. Most of the time it doesn’t look like a statue we bow down to.
• You can worship material things, relationships, or even your phone. Worship is whatever you give your time, attention, and focus to.
• If you worship God, you put Him at the center of everything. Every choice you make flows from His Word, the Bible.
• If your worship is elsewhere, you’re not putting God first. Instead, you live by your own desires—whether that’s money, relationships, popularity, or anything else.
Application:
As Christians, we need to stand against what the world calls “normal.” It wasn’t normal for David to dance in the streets, openly worshiping God. We need that same heart. We must put God before everything, even when it looks strange to others. Let’s choose Scripture over culture. I encourage you—and myself—to dive deeper into God’s Word and become “undignified” for Jesus, doing what the Bible calls us to do, even if the world thinks it’s crazy.
Prayer:
Thank You, Lord, for everything You have done for me today and all You will do in the future. I pray that You give me boldness to make You the center of my life. Help me to be undignified by the world’s standards and to live fully for You. Jesus, I love You and praise You. In Your mighty name I pray, amen.
