Prepare Your Heart for Worship

Scripture: Psalm 122:1 (NLT)

“I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.’”

Focus

Sunday is more than attending church—it is an opportunity to intentionally meet with God and encourage His people.

Devotional

It is easy for Sunday to become routine.

Wake up.

Get ready.

Drive to church.

Sing a few songs.

Listen to a message.

Go home.

But gathering with the church was never meant to be just another item on our weekly schedule.

It is an opportunity to worship the living God together.

Before you walk through the doors, prepare your heart.

Ask God to speak to you.

Ask Him to reveal anything that needs to change.

Ask Him to show you someone you can encourage.

Come ready not only to receive, but also to give.

Worship wholeheartedly.

Listen expectantly.

Serve willingly.

Encourage someone intentionally.

The church is not simply a building we attend. It is the family of God gathering together around Jesus.

Some Sundays you may feel excited.

Other Sundays you may feel tired, distracted, or spiritually dry.

Go anyway.

Sometimes the very thing your soul needs is to worship when you do not feel like worshiping, hear the Word when your mind is distracted, and be surrounded by believers when you feel alone.

Do not treat Sunday casually.

You are gathering with the people of God to worship the King of kings.

Come expecting Him to move.

Reflection Question

Am I going to church today simply out of routine, or am I coming with a heart ready to meet with God and serve His people?

Prayer

Father, prepare my heart for worship today. Remove distractions and help me focus completely on You. Speak to me through Your Word, use me to encourage someone else, and let everything I do today bring glory to Jesus.
